A fresh take on Pilates has swept through the Southeast, drawing thousands of men to mats since early 2025. The "Bro-lates" classes, started by Tampa's Jodi Campbell, now pack studios in four major cities.
"It's not just your average workout," Campbell said, according to Fox 13 News. "It creates that flexibility and mobility that they need."
These sessions break the mold. Monte Lewis, who teamed up with Campbell at the start, watches attendance tick up month after month. Men pack the studios, drawn by word of mouth and social buzz.
Student Chris Chamness tells it straight: "It was something that my girlfriend got me into. First class, I definitely died. I think Jodi tries to kill us every single class," he said. After the burn fades, pride kicks in. Students keep coming back for more.
Campbell's vision stretches past just Pilates. Her pop-up fitness events light up Tampa's scene, each with its own special kick. The classes mix hard work with good times, building bonds between students.
Staff member Kayla Jones points to the mix of options. "There's so many different events every week, and each one kind of has their own unique spin," she said.
Taryn Burke, part of the teaching crew, sees the bigger picture. "I feel like it's been such a blessing, just being part of Jodi's creative vision and see it all come to life," she shared.
Eight short months saw the program jump from one city to four. Classes now draw crowds between 2,000 and 3,000 strong. "It's really, really cool just to watch the growth and watch people actually show up for themselves," Campbell said.
