This fall, streets across Tampa will buzz with cyclists and walkers during the city's third car-free celebration. The five-hour fest spans four key spots, turning roads into people-friendly zones on Sept. 20.
From 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., visitors can join group rides, browse local markets, and take part in street activities. The main hubs — Midtown, Encore, Centennial Park, and TampaWell Community Gardens — will each offer unique draws. This local push joins a bigger wave, with thousands of cities worldwide ditching cars for a day.
Bike groups roll out at 9:30 a.m. sharp from marked spots around town. Kids and parents can join a special ride at 10 a.m., starting at Gasparilla Plaza on Cass Street. Police will teach bike skills from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at their Bike Rodeo.
This fest fits right in with Tampa's push for better bike access. Workers have started adding bike paths downtown. Soon, riders will cruise on an expanded Riverwalk stretching to West Tampa.
Six local groups joined forces for the 2025 event: Walk Bike Tampa, City of Tampa, Tampa Downtown Partnership, Westshore Alliance, Pedal Power Promoters, and Sidewalk Stompers.
Each spot brings its own flair. Shop local goods at Midtown's market on Midtown Drive. Catch live bands at Encore on Ray Charles Boulevard. Fill up at food trucks and watch street artists work at Centennial Park. Let kids play at TampaWell Gardens on 30th Street.
By swapping cars for bikes and feet, Tampa joins a push to cut traffic and help our air stay clean. This day shows how streets can work better when people come first.
