Sprouts Farmers Market to Open First St. Petersburg Store in November

A new Sprouts Farmers Market will start serving St. Petersburg shoppers on Nov. 14. The 23,000-square-foot store sits at 3411 32nd Ave. South, anchoring the massive Sky Town project in the Skyway Marina District.

This store marks a key milestone for the $800 million Sky Town project. Miami firm Altis Cardinal is transforming an old office site into a fresh community space. Their plans mix 2,084 living units with retail spots and storage facilities across 34 acres.

Local builder Hawkins Construction placed the store on the property's east end. Early birds at the grand launch can catch a 6:45 a.m. ribbon cutting. The first 400 guests will get roses, while supplies of goodie bags await those who show up early.

This marks the sixth Sprouts in Pinellas County. Other spots dot the map in Kenneth City, Seminole, Largo, Clearwater, and Palm Harbor. Each site shows off fresh food in an open design.

Shoppers will find rows of fresh produce, bins of bulk items, and walls of wellness products. A meat counter offers grass-fed cuts, while quick meal options fill the deli case. The store stocks its own brand of products too.

Starting in Phoenix, Sprouts now runs 415 stores across the U.S., with over 50 in Florida alone. The chain picked Florida for growth in 2017.

The store traces back to 2002, when the Boney family of San Diego wanted to make fresh food more accessible. Their vision grew from a single shop into a national brand.

As crews start work on Sky Town's first homes, the store preps for a three-day party. Guests can join hunts, play games, and taste free samples throughout opening weekend.
