A giant 250-foot wheel will rise above Tampa's Channel District. The $20 million project sits north of The Florida Aquarium. Opening day? Fall 2026. The structure, dubbed "Tampa WOW! Tampa's Wheel Over Water," marks a bold step for the city's waterfront.

Riders will glide in temperature-controlled pods high above the bay. Each trip lasts up to 30 minutes. "Tampa WOW! isn't just about the view. It's about creating a world-class family destination and energizing downtown with new opportunities for connection and engagement," said Developer Tony Miller per ThatsSoTampa.com.

At street level, visitors will find spots to eat and drink. The site includes storage space for cruise ship travelers' bags. The wheel's location links several key spots: The Florida Aquarium, Benchmark International Arena, and Water Street.

Visit Tampa Bay sees promise in the plan. Santiago Corrada, the group's president, shared his thoughts: "A transformative new attraction such as Tampa WOW! to our beautiful Tampa Riverwalk will provide more opportunities for our community to grow and develop, and give visitors and residents a new highlight to explore."

Roger Germann from The Florida Aquarium backs the idea. "With the addition of Tampa WOW!, the transformation of Tampa into a world-class destination for families takes another major step forward," he stated.

The wheel needs Tampa City Council approval to start work. Private money funds the whole project: no tax dollars needed.
