A new study by WalletHub places Tampa at number six on their 2025 list of best coffee cities in America. The ranking, which looked at the 100 largest U.S. cities, considered 12 key factors from coffee shop concentration to beverage prices.

Tampa climbed the list thanks to its diverse coffee scene and affordable cappuccinos. The study looked at everything from customer reviews to internet availability, plus what residents spend on their morning coffee.

Back in the 1880s, Cuban, Italian, and Spanish immigrants started Tampa's coffee culture in Ybor City. That influence remains strong today - just look at Café Perera, which has been serving customers for 50 years.

The coffee scene continues to expand. While Kahwa Coffee has grown to 12 locations, unique spots like Spaddy's and Blind Tiger draw regular crowds. Over in Carrollwood, The Big Pink Cup and The Perfect Press are making their mark.

Small, family-owned shops keep traditional methods going. Places like Café Perez and Café Perera go back to Tampa's cigar-making era, still making powerful Cuban coffee the way their grandparents did.

WalletHub's analysis covered coffee from every angle. They found highly-rated shops, tracked social media mentions, and looked into local coffee events.

Coffee shops bring people together. At Casa Azul, you'll find office workers enjoying special horchata lattes beside artists drawing in corners. Blooming Floral combines coffee with fresh-cut flowers, bringing in all kinds of people.

The rankings consider both business data and local culture, including everything from donut shops to how many people own coffee makers and attend festivals.

Coffee is part of Tampa's history. Early Southwest Florida pioneers relied on their morning coffee, creating the rich coffee culture we see today.
