After a 40-year break, Bojangles returns to Tampa Bay. The chicken chain will start serving at 7930 US Highway 19 N in Pinellas Park on Nov. 4. A second spot at 18626 State Road 54 in Lutz will open by December.
"As we continue to expand, our goal is to partner with dedicated franchisees who understand their communities and are passionate about delivering Bojangles' Southern hospitality," said Brooks Speirs, vice president of franchise sales at Bojangles, according to That's So Tampa.
Since 1977, when it first opened in Charlotte, North Carolina, the chain has built its reputation on fresh cooking. Workers make chicken, biscuits, and sweet tea from scratch each day.
The chain's return marks a big shift since its last Tampa Bay presence in the 1980s. This comeback fits into a wider Florida growth plan, which includes new spots in Orlando.
Customers can pick from hot biscuit sandwiches to crispy fries with special seasoning. Staff prepare items throughout the day to keep food fresh.
The Pinellas Park spot sits in a prime shopping area on US Highway 19 N. In Lutz, the new restaurant adds to the mix of businesses on State Road 54's north Hillsborough stretch.
Tampa Bay's food scene keeps growing. New chains Swig and Piccolo Buco have also picked the area for their next spots. The timing works well: more people want quick, tasty food options.
