A massive 22,000-square-foot Barnes & Noble will open its doors at Highland Lakes Plaza in Palm Harbor, Florida this October 29, 2025. The new store is located at 33591 U.S. Highway 19 N.

The Palm Harbor location is the sixth Florida store to open in 2025, part of the book retailer's broader plan to launch over 60 new locations across the country.

"The enduring appeal of real bookstores has allowed us to open new stores at a pace not seen in decades," said James Daunt to Barnes & Noble Inc.

Shoppers will discover more than just books - there's a welcoming cafe serving beverages while the store features toys, games, magazines, and gift items. Popular author Sarah Penner will handle ribbon-cutting duties and sign copies of her newest book, "The Amalfi Curse," during the opening celebration.

Leading the team is Gina Martins, who brings nearly 20 years of bookselling experience to the neighborhood. She hopes to turn the store into a hub where readers can connect.

The opening builds on a successful 2024, which had more new stores than all of the previous ten years combined. As October continues, eight additional stores will open their doors across the country.

Customers can find the new location next to Trader Joe's in Highland Lakes Plaza. For the latest updates, check out @bnpalmharborfl on social media.

This expansion shows a remarkable turnaround from previous years of closings. Now, individual stores can pick their own inventory, allowing staff to customize selections based on what local readers want.

While the Palm Harbor store is one of several October openings nationwide, each new location has seen huge crowds on opening day.
