WellFed Community will unveil a fully permitted Mobile Community Kitchen on Friday, Dec. 12, at the TampaWell Community Garden. The nonprofit built a traveling culinary classroom that brings cooking classes, nutrition workshops, and food education programs to people across the region.

The launch runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 5802 N. 30th St. Visitors can join guided tours, observe food demonstrations, participate in garden activities, and enjoy light refreshments. Registration is encouraged.

TampaWell, activated by Tampa General Hospital, partnered with the nonprofit to create the mobile unit. This trailer will support wellness initiatives, food education, food access programs, and disaster relief throughout the area.

WellFed Community works to make food education accessible and practical. Their programs use hands-on teaching methods that help people learn cooking skills, understand food systems, and build healthier habits. The group focuses on approaches that celebrate community connections.

The green trailer expands what the group can do. Staff can now bring demonstrations, workshops, and tasting sessions to neighborhoods, schools, and community spaces wherever they can park.

Food serves as a tool to educate, connect, and empower residents. Programs aim to turn cooking into a common language that builds understanding across different groups.

The mobile unit gives WellFed Community the capacity to serve more locations with real-world education, reaching populations that may not have access to fixed cooking facilities or traditional classrooms where food instruction happens.

The launch marks a step in bringing food education to communities. Tampa General Hospital's wellness initiative partnered with the nonprofit to create infrastructure for mobile food programming.

Attendees can register through the website. The Dec. 12 debut will showcase what the unit can do and introduce residents to the mobile classroom concept.
