Water Street Tampa will host its second annual Cover to Cover book fair for adults on Wednesday, March 25, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. The event transforms the area into an open-air book haven with pop-up bookstores, author talks, signings, and a special Blind Date with a Book experience.
Aimed at adults, the fair is free and will take place at 971 Water Street. It follows the success of last year's debut event, which was a huge hit with Tampa Bay's book lovers. The event continues to build on the area's passion for books, featured in gatherings like Read Herring at Corner Club.
Cover to Cover distinguishes itself from other events focused on families by offering an atmosphere geared towards adults. A separate kid-friendly event will be held at Sparkman Wharf on Saturday. This plan aligns with Tampa's diverse book clubs, such as sci-fi meetups at Tombolo Books.
The community is encouraged to contribute by bringing a book to donate, supporting a nonprofit that provides books to schools and families. This is similar to efforts by local groups like Keep St. Pete Lit, which unite the community through readings and workshops.
Attendees can enjoy drinks, local snacks, and explore shopping and dining in Water Street Tampa. This relaxed vibe is similar to that of Read Herring, aiming to make literature easy to enjoy for everyone.
Parking will be available at the Cumberland Garage, making it convenient to get to the event. Other book-friendly spots in Tampa, like Corner Club, offer similar benefits for book fans.
The fair supports Tampa Bay's lively book scene, which includes regular events like the Tampa Bay History Center's book club. Participants often explore Florida's classic works, adding to the state's literary heritage.
Events inspired by authors are also part of the lineup, with talks on historic writers like Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings and Zora Neale Hurston. Poetry readings at the Dalí Museum by award-winning poets further enrich the literary options.
Local groups like Wordier Than Thou host workshops and open mics, boosting community involvement in the arts. Cover to Cover's pop-ups and donations mirror this goal, encouraging a love for books among adults.
