The Tampa Bay Rays introduced a new jersey patch from their sponsor Webull. Crafted from materials from the original roof of Tropicana Field, it symbolizes resilience after Hurricane Milton. The patch made its first appearance on Opening Day for the 2026 season, incorporating parts of the storm-damaged roof.
The Rays partnered with Webull, an online investing service based in St. Petersburg, last year. Webull is now the team’s first corporate jersey patch partner. Bill Walsh, the Rays’ chief business officer, shared his excitement about the collaboration. "We’re proud to announce Webull, an organization that shares our commitment to excellence and innovation, as our jersey patch partner ahead of the 2026 season," said Walsh to MLB.com.
The patch, representing Tampa Bay’s resilience, features materials from the roof that Hurricane Milton severely damaged in 2024. The damage was so extensive that the Rays played at George M. Steinbrenner Field in 2025. Carlos Questell from Webull emphasized the partnership's deeper connection, "This partnership represents more than just a logo on a jersey. It is a commitment to the community."
By the end of 2025, the Rays and Webull had raised $20,000 for storm relief. They also participated in a Pinellas County restoration project, helping repair a house affected by the storm. Fans can purchase limited-edition jerseys with this patch at The Bay Republic Team Store while supplies last.
Webull, founded in China in 2016, established a U.S. base in St. Petersburg in November 2022. The company is devoted to community support and innovation, aligning perfectly with the Rays. Jerseys featuring sponsorship patches, which MLB introduced in 2023, now include the Rays along with other teams.
The St. Louis Cardinals went up against the Rays in their season opener on March 26, 2026. The Rays are looking forward to their first home game against the Chicago Cubs on April 6. Those attending the game at Tropicana Field will see the special patch for the first time.
Webull’s color scheme and design influenced the patch, which incorporates historic pieces from the roof at Tropicana Field. This tells a story of local strength. Promotional videos by the Rays celebrate local unity post-storm, stating "when we suit up and take the field, we face the storm together."
Overall, the patch embodies the spirit of the city’s resilience and underscores the connection between the Rays and Webull in recovery efforts and community support. Though small, the patch's significance extends beyond the field itself.
