Surf Shack Coastal Kitchen at 12217 W. Linebaugh Ave. in Westchase shut its doors on March 22. The space will undergo a two-month makeover. After that, it'll become the fourth Eddie's Bar and Grill spot. The restaurant had fed customers since 2011.

This new spot marks another step for the sports bar chain that began in Dunedin back in 1985. Eddie's now has locations in Bay Pines and Largo, with the Largo site set to open late in 2025.

Stephen Bishop owns the spot through his Excellence in Restaurants hospitality group. He shared the news on social media. "From the bottom of our hearts we say thank you for supporting us for the past 12 years," the post stated, per the Tampa Beacon. "It has been an honor but as life happens on to bigger and better things."

All staff members will shift to other Eddie's Group properties while construction happens. They'll return once workers finish the remodel, according to the Facebook post.

Eddie Turner started the original location as a small bar across from the Gulf of Mexico in Dunedin. A new ownership group bought it in 2016, fixed up the space, and began opening more locations around the area.

The chain calls itself a family-friendly sports bar with a fresh, never-frozen menu. Eddie's has nightly deals, including Taco Tuesdays, Burger Wednesdays, and Fish and Chips Fridays. Happy hour runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Westchase property also houses Level 19 Gaming Lounge, an arcade Bishop built with its own bar, video games, pinball, darts, and a golf simulator. Whether the arcade will stay open after the conversion remains unclear.
